I love soup and now that the weather is cool, I will be making a lot more of it. It's been cool and rainy all day, the perfect soup weather. I had some leftover pizza dough in the freezer, so I threw that in the toaster oven with fresh rosemary and sea salt and garlic for a quick and crispy focaccia. The soup was made with a bit of olive oil, fresh sage, rosemary, thyme, garlic, red pepper flakes, fennel seed, onions, carrots, potatoes, a bit of marinara, tofu, tvp, red chard and finished with a tiny bit of miso, freshly grated nutmeg and nutritional yeast stirred in at the last minute. I used water and a bit of Marmite as the broth.
My interview went well, I think. It's hard to tell. I really liked the man and respect his business practices. I'm sure I'd enjoy working there. His wife does the baking and she's very talented. I admire anyone who can do pastry work and cake decorating..
If I'm meant to work there, I will get the job.. (and I sure hope I'm meant to work there!)
I've been reading all of your blogs, but not doing much commenting because it is so irritating to constantly have to log on and off and back in. I hope blogger fixes this.

It's still 106 degrees F here. I've been making soups for a few weeks now. I can feel a bit of fall blowing through around 5:30am but that's about it. Still, it's 85 that early.
ReplyDeleteI'm with EatPeacePlease... cool weather? what's that???? *sigh* I still make soup though, even when it's 90. I love your foccacia.. delish!
ReplyDeleteI second both of the above -- too hot to move here, let alone eat soup!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the job. I'll say a little prayer.
Keeping good thoughts for you about the job, Melody!
ReplyDeleteSouper soup there. Yummy! I'll take soup even when it's hot out, i'm easy that way...
Sending good vibes your way for an easy and peaceful week, Mel.
Your soup looks fantastic... soup is one of my favorite things, and I too cannot wait until the fall debut around here!
ReplyDeleteGlad you have a positive attitude about the job thing--you're right, if it's meant for you then I'm sure you will get it. I'll be remembering you!
cold and rainy?
ReplyDeletewow it's like we're in different worlds.
i bought some foccacia yesterday. for some reason when you make everything it sounds so easy
that is a talent
and I'm crossing my fingers about the job for you!
teddy
mmm.. i've been craving soup
ReplyDeletei'm constantly amazed at what you whip up in the kitchen, melody. "la la la, left over pizza dough...threw it in the toaster...la la la" you certainly deserve that job...or a better one over the horizon. sorry about the cow reference, but ya can't stop cream from rising to the top.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Soup looks good. I have a huge crate of tomaotes from the garden to use. I'd make salsa, but the green peppers aren't fully producing yet.
ReplyDeleteOh my that looks good.
ReplyDeleteMmm, mmm good! Reminds me that it's been way too long since I've whipped up a big pot of minestrone, it's my favorite. I was thinking I might try it with barley instead of pasta. Nothing like fresh crusty bread with soup, such good comfort food.
ReplyDeletePerfect meal, perfect sounding weather. I'm a fall/winter gal myself.
ReplyDeleteYesterday when it rained, I finally made soup too. It's been way to long to be separated from something that good and comforting. I'm ready for the weather to cool off a bit more now and turn into fall. Already our backyard trees are starting to turn colors.
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful! It's soup weather in NYC as well... just made a veggie minestrone on Monday. Mmmm mmm good.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, I hope you get the job. BTW - Where is there a good natural foods store in NH? (I found a little one in Conway.)
ReplyDeleteThat soup looks great. I was just thinking the other day that is getting cool enough to be soup/stew time here.
Hey, the picnic idea got ignored due to my crazy schedule. What about apple picking at an orchard between NH and Boston somewhere? Maybe we could get some other local bloggers to join us!
